everyone (and I mean everyone) was incredible. From registration staff and the nurses to the radiology staff and emergency doctor, they all made sure I was as comfortable as I could be, given the situation.” As it typically goes in these types of breaks, the swelling needed to go down before surgery could be performed. Josh says, “I saw Dr. Brad Binsfeld, Grant Regional’s orthopedic surgeon, and he made me feel comfortable right away. He showed me the x-rays and explained how the surgery would go.” Josh’s injury was a complex bimalleolar ankle fracture. Repair required an open reduction internal fixation with plate and screws to fix his medial malleolus and distal fibula. “After my initial appointment with Dr. Binsfeld, I heard from quite a few people that Dr. Binsfeld and Nate Stocco, PA-C, are two of the best around and that I was in excellent hands,” Josh says. Mending broken bones “Surgery was that following Thursday and was estimated to be an hour and a half,” says Josh. “Dr. Binsfeld explained that the ball of my foot had separated, and the bones were twice as far apart as they should be. I also learned that the surgery included placing nine screws and a plate to repair the damage.” “Between Dr. Binsfeld and his PA-C, Nate Stocco, my follow-up care was incredible,” Josh continues. “I received many calls at home to check in on me. That was so important to me to hear their voices and to know how much they cared. Sherri Leamy, the ortho clinic CMA, even went out of her way to bring me some cast supplies since she was from the Bloomington area too. Being local, it meant so much to me to see so many familiar faces at the hospital and clinic during my many appointments.
